Samsung joins the Home Connectivity Alliance

Samsung Electronics announced its membership with the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) along with leading manufacturers in the smart home space, with the goal of promoting interoperability and increased security.

Samsung Electronics is a founding member of the HCA along with Arçelik A.Ş., The Electrolux Group, Haier, GE Appliances and Trane Technologies.

The alliance brings together leading connected device manufacturers to enhance compatibility and linked operation between smart devices across brands.

As part of the alliance, Samsung will work with other member companies to develop shared guidelines for cloud-to-cloud interoperability, taking into account data security and consumer security requirements.

For Samsung users, this means the ability to operate and control non-Samsung appliances through its SmartThings smart home platform, making it easy for them to integrate new and old devices into their connected homes.

Alternatively, they will be able to access the South Korean brand devices from other HCA member apps.
