Santo Domingo.- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., in partnership with FUNDESTEAM, the Polytechnic Institute of the Americas (ITLA) and Prodominicana, successfully concludes the fourth edition of the program Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC), providing certifications in programming and Artificial Intelligence to 124 talented young people from the Dominican Republic.
The SIC program, an initiative that seeks to promote the development of digital skills among new generations in the region, has benefited a total of 1,734 young people since its launch in 2021. In this edition, 254 participants were selected in the Dominican Republic and Panama, after a rigorous process that evaluated their skills and enthusiasm for entering the field of technology. More than 900 students applied for the call.
“At Samsung, we are committed to the future of our youth and to the development of Central America and the Caribbean,” said María Fernanda Hernández, Corporate Citizenship Manager at Samsung Electronics. “The Samsung Innovation Campus program is an example of that commitment, providing participants with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in the digital age.”
For six months, the young people received 240 hours of training in a mixed synchronous and asynchronous learning format. The program, taught by teachers and tutors specialized in Python and Artificial Intelligence, allowed them to acquire solid foundations in programming and develop critical skills such as logical thinking, problem solving, creativity and teamwork.
In addition to technical training, participants had the opportunity to interact with each other and with experts in online communities, strengthening their network of contacts and broadening their professional perspectives.
After completing the program, those who successfully complete the course automatically become part of an employability network promoted by Samsung in conjunction with Prodominicana and the Polytechnic Institute of the Americas (ITLA). Samsung’s relationship with both organizations began last year with the first class in Coding and Programming, which graduated 136 students.
The success of the Samsung Innovation Campus reaffirms Samsung’s commitment to education and business demand in the region. The company will continue to work on initiatives that promote access to information and communication technologies, empowering new generations to be agents of change in the region.
