The second round of Série B of the Brazilian Championship started this Friday (22) with the rout of Sampaio Corrêa over Sport, by 4-1, at Estádio Castelão, in São Luís. Bolivia Querida went to 28 points and surpassed Leão himself in the classification.
The people from Maranhão provisionally took fifth place, five points behind Grêmio, the last team in the access zone to the 2023 Series A. Criciúma win their matches and there is a winner in the match between CRB and Novorizontino.
The hosts took the lead five minutes into the first half, with Gabriel Poveda. The Serie B top scorer completed, with his head, Pimentinha’s right cross. At 36, fellow striker Ygor Catatau, again with a header, scored the second for Sampaio, after a corner kick.
Sport decreased six minutes into the final stage. Midfielder Giovanni took a free-kick in the area on the left and forward Kayke deflected it to the net. The reaction, however, ended there. At 29, defender Fábio Alemão took down side Mateusinho in the area and was sent off. Gabriel Poveda charged and scored his 11th goal in the competition. In extra time, Bolivia Querida scored the fourth, in a cross kick by forward Rafael Costa, from the edge of the area. The Leão had not conceded more than two goals in any other match in 2022.
Still without a coach after Lisca’s departure to Santos, Sport returns to the field on Thursday (28), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), to face Guarani at Ilha do Retiro, in Recife. Sampaio plays on Friday (29), at the same time, against Tombense, at Soares de Azevedo stadium, in Muriaé (MG).
