The Sambadrome begins to receive today (12) the technical rehearsals of Rio’s samba schools. Saturdays will be dedicated to the schools of the Gold Series, which is the second division of the Carioca Carnival, and Sundays, to the associations of the special group, the first division.

Today (12), they rehearse at Marquês de Sapucaí (Sambódromo), Em Cima da Hora (7 pm), Império Serrano (8 pm) and Lins Imperial (9 pm).

Next Saturday (19), there will be Unidos da Ponte (7 pm), Acadêmicos do Cubango (8 pm) and Império da Tijuca (9 pm). On the 26th, they rehearse Inocentes de Belford Roxo (7 pm), Acadêmicos do Sossego (8 pm) and Acadêmicos de Santa Cruz (9 pm).

On April 2, it will be the turn of União da Ilha (7 pm), Acadêmicos de Vigário Geral (8 pm) and Unidos da Pedra (9 pm). On the last day of rehearsals (April 10), Estácio de Sá (7 pm), Unidos de Bangu (8 pm) and Unidos de Padre Miguel (9 pm) enter the avenue.

According to the schedule of the special group, on the 13th, they rehearse Imperatriz (8:30 pm), São Clemente (9:40 pm) and Portela (10:50 pm). On the 20th, it is the turn of Paraíso do Tuiuti (8:30 pm), Vila Isabel (9:40 pm) and Mangueira (10:50 pm). On the 27th, the Unidos da Tijuca (8:30 pm), Beija-Flor (9:40 pm) and Salgueiro (10:50 pm) enter Marquês de Sapucaí.

On April 3, they rehearse Mocidade (9:40 pm) and Grande Rio (10:50 pm). On the 10th, the current champion of the Carioca carnival, Viradouro, ends the round of technical rehearsals at the Sambódromo, starting at 10:50 pm.

The rehearsals of the special group will be broadcast on the Rio Carnaval channel, a brand created by the Independent League of Samba Schools (Liesa) for the Sapucaí parades, on Youtube.

The public will have free access to the stands of the Sambódromo during the technical tests, just by proving vaccination against covid-19.

The official parades will be held on Tiradentes weekend, always starting at night and ending at dawn the next day. The gold series begins to parade on Wednesday night (April 20), with Em Cima Hora, Acadêmicos do Cubango, Unidos da Ponte, Unidos do Porto da Pedra, União da Ilha do Governador, Unidos de Bangu and Acadêmicos do Sossego .

On Thursday night, the second day of parades of the gold series begins, with Lins Imperial, Inocentes de Belford Roxo, Estácio de Sá, Acadêmicos de Santa Cruz, Unidos de Padre Miguel, Acadêmicos de Vigário Geral, Império da Tijuca and Império Serrano.

The special group parades on Friday (22) and Saturday (23) nights, with the program also ending at dawn the following day. Friday’s parade will feature Imperatriz, Mangueira, Salgueiro, São Clemente, Viradouro and Beija-Flor.

On Saturday, Paraíso do Tuiuti, Portela, Mocidade, Unidos da Tijuca, Grande Rio and Vila Isabel will parade.
