Presenter Teresa Cristina welcomes Tia Surica, honorary president of Portela, in the first edition of the program Samba in Gamboafrom the TV Brasilin 2025. THE National Radio airs the tribute next Saturday (11), at noon, for the entire network.
The guest talks to the host about her relationship with carnival and her devotion to the samba school of her heart. At 84 years old, Tia Surica is a matriarch and member of the association’s old guard. It recalls notable passages from the festivities and highlights Blue and White strongholds.
The artist also remembers the emotion of having been the Eagle’s interpreter in the 1966 champion parade. A pioneer, Tia Surica says that she released her voice in the samba-enredo Memoirs of a Militia Sergeantwritten by Paulinho da Viola, at the request of Natalino José do Nascimento, his Natal, one of the main figures of the school.
Tia Surica also discusses her famous feijoada and her solo career. The veteran sings the work of Portela composers, such as the icons Manacéa, Candeia and Paulinho da Viola, among other personalities who defended the association.

The new season of Samba na Gamboa marks the debut of Teresa Cristina as presenter of the program TV Brasil was recorded at the Ruth de Souza Theater, in Parque Glória Maria, in Santa Teresa, in the central region of Rio de Janeiro. Research into popular culture is important for the artist who, in addition to her success with the group Semente and her solo career, gained even more attention with the lives she did on social media during the pandemic period.
With a new scenario, graphic package and redesigned opening soundtrack, the Samba in Gamboa has a weekly window, on Sundays, at 1 pm, in the programming of TV Brasiland alternative hours on Saturdays, at 11pm.

Production history
THE Samba in Gamboa brings together great performers from the new generations and renowned names in the genre and icons of MPB for a lively samba circle. With Diogo Nogueira, the program had seven seasons and was recorded between 2008 and 2018. To this day, the attraction is part of the public channel’s schedule.
