Cultural festival will be held tomorrow and Sunday at Teatro de Verano
A unique weekend is coming, full of rhythm, energy and culture, two days where candombe and samba will be the central protagonists, filling the stage found in Zorrilla Park in San Martín with light and joy.
Admission to see the shows on both days will be free of charge. Attendees may bring a toy or non-perishable food.
“This weekend we are going to have a lot of culture, a lot of action. The samba cultural event and the candombe culture event will be held, both activities will be held at the Municipal Summer Theater” advertisement Camila Brum.
“Tomorrow, Saturday, December 6, will be dedicated entirely to samba and Sunday, the 7th, to candomble. There will be no entrance fee, but rather a solidarity exchange will be made because it is understood that during these holidays there will be children who will not be with the families. We are going to ask for a collaboration of a toy and whoever does not have it will be able to bring a non-perishable food as well. This will go to INAU Homes and the Hospital, so that during these holidays we can generate a bright smile” said the organizer of the conference.
“At the same time, workshops will be held, many of them will come to the department of Cerro Largo for the first time, to promote dance, pasistas and percussion so that we can all meet and learn from very renowned people from different areas.” he stated.
The activity will begin at the 14th hour with a Fair of Entrepreneurs and Artisans of the Entrepreneurial Network on the street that crosses in front of the Summer Theater. There will be an attractive gastronomic plaza run by some housing cooperatives.
“From 5 p.m. the live artistic shows will begin on the main stage with the presence of local groups and some guests from the media” Camina Brum advanced.
“On Saturday the 6th from 2 p.m. the workshop will be taught by Priscila Núñez, passist and drum queen in Rampla de Artigas. The cost is $450 for a course that lasts 90 minutes” he commented.
“On Sunday, December 7, we will have the presence of Macarena Rosadilla in the morning, from the 10th hour, to offer a workshop on empowerment, skill and interpretation of dance at the time of dancing. Starting at 2:00 p.m. we will have the workshop of Maira Lucas, a more than special workshop because it will focus on the connection and interpretation in the body. From 3:30 p.m. the workshop of Diego Silveira, renowned percussionist of “The New School that has successfully taken candombe to different countries” stood out.
The candombe workshops cost $350, but there will also be a promotion for 2 workshops for only $500. Tickets can be purchased at Navarrete 570 between Wilson Ferreira and José Pedro Varela or request them at 092 68 58 09 and 091 881 247.
“We invite everyone, we hope the entire community will join us, to also support because all the groups that will perform on the stage of the Summer Theater will have a canteen to raise funds” stressed the member of the Entrepreneurial Network.
“By attending you will be helping with a gift for a child or food for families who need it” expressed Camila Brum.
“In terms of training, it is a unique opportunity. Any of the 4 people who will give the workshops is the first time they have come to Cerro Largo. It is a powerful tool so that we can all share and expand, making the most of it” he concluded.
