The White House issued an official statement with the delegation of President Joe Biden that will travel to Bogotá to attend the inauguration of Gustavo Petro as President of Colombia on August 7.
As had been anticipated a few weeks ago, the delegation will not be headed by the US vice president KamalaHarris, as originally speculated, but Samantha Power, USAID Administratorthe United States Agency for International Development.

Together with Power, former United States ambassador to the United Nations during the government of Barack Obama, the Colombian will be in Bogotá Juan González, Special Advisor to President Joe Biden for Western Hemisphere Affairs, office part of the National Security Council.
The Democratic congressman will come Gregory Meeks, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
On behalf of the US Department of State, the delegate is Desirée Cormier Smith, Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice of that wallet.
