Sales of motor vehicles increase by 16.4% in 2024

Sales of motor vehicles in the country totaled 3.89 million units in the period from January to October 2024, an increase of 16.4% over the same period last year. The data was released this Thursday (7) by the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave). Sales of cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, motorcycles and road equipment are considered in the survey.

The automobile and light commercial segment was responsible for the sale of 1.9 million units from January to October 2024, an increase of 14.7% over the same period in 2023. In October, 249,896 units were sold, 12. 2% above the September total and 20.9% more than in October 2023.

“The supply of credit continues to boost automobiles and light commercial vehicles, with a 75% approval rate for proposals. The accumulated increase in licensing is similar to our annual projection, of [elevação de] 15%”, highlighted the president of Fenabrave, José Maurício Andreta Júnior.

Sales in the motorcycle segment also grew in 2024. In the year to date, 1.57 million units were sold, 19.6% above that recorded in the same period of 2023. In October 2024, 166,722 units were sold, 21. 1% above the same month in 2023, and 6.4% above September 2024.

The segment of electrified cars and light commercial vehicles totaled, in 2024, sales of 138,612 units, a jump of 106.6% over the same period in 2023.
