After failing to reach an agreement at the tripartite table, the minimum wage in Colombia for 2025 was defined via decree. In this way, the National Government determined that this monthly remuneration will have an adjustment of 9.5% for next year, which places it at $1,423,500 (approximately $323), not counting transportation assistance.

The increase in this benefit is relevant because, as its name indicates, this concept refers to the minimum amount of money that an employer is obliged to pay to employees who work a full day.
The purpose of this remuneration is to generate well-being from a salary that covers a person’s basic needs.
In Colombia, in the last three years the minimum has had a significant evolution, going from $1,160,000 (254 dollars, on average) in 2022, when a 16% increase was defined, to the current amount. However, How is the figure compared to other countries?

Minimum wage in America
First of all, it must be taken into account that the parameters under which the figure is determined are different. For example, in some territories the minimum limit is changed from time to time and in others it is carried out annually.
In the case of Argentina, The government determined that the increase will be carried out in a phased manner between December of this year and next March.
Thus, as of January 2025, the value of this remuneration will become 286,711 pesos (about $286); It will change from February 1 to 292,446 pesos (292 dollars), and in March, to 296,832 pesos (296 dollars).
Moving on to Mexico, The minimum wage will have an increase of 12% by 2025which will begin to apply from January 1. That is, this amount will go from 248.93 pesos per day (12.20 dollars) to 278.80 pesos per day (13.71 dollars).

In Ecuador, for its part, the Ministry of Labor of that country established that the Unified Basic Salary (SBU) of the worker for next year will be 470 dollars per month. In this way, the remuneration will have an increase of 10 dollars in relation to the amount set for 2024.
On the Peru side, The increase in the Minimum Living Remuneration (RMV) will go from 1,025 soles (274.01 dollars) to 1,130 soles (302 dollars) by 2025, which translates into an increase of 105 soles.
Now, unlike the previous cases, in the US, since 2009 the federal minimum wage has been $7.25 per hour. However, some states and cities set their own rates.
In that sense, starting in January, 21 states will apply increases in this remuneration. This includes Alaska (which will go from $11.73 an hour to $11.91), Colorado (from $14.42 to $14.81), Illinois (from $14 to $15), Montana (from $10, $30 to $10.55), Ohio ($10.45 to $10.70), Washington ($16.28 to $16.66), among others.
It is worth remembering that in some countries in the region the changes to your salary for next year have not yet been announced.
