Querétaro, Qro. During the second quarter of the yearthe informal economy grew annually 2.3% in the entity, but remunerations in that area rose 12.7%, placing Querétaro as the third state with the highest increase, reveal the Quarterly Measurements of the Informal Economy by Federal Entity (MEITEF).
above Querétaro, Tamaulipas and Yucatán They led the list of entities where salaries increased the most in the informal economy, with increases of 15.2 and 12.8%, respectively, according to measurements from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The annual variation in salaries in Querétaro exceeded the national indicator by 3.9 percentage points, which was 8.8 percent.
When disaggregating informal activity -by informal sector and by other modalities of informality-, in the informal sector of the state, salaries increased 15.1% at annual rate in the April-June quarterin this case it also exceeded the national increase of 13.3%, ranking 12th in terms of growth.
In the segment of other modalities of informality, remunerations increased 11.6% in Querétaro, once again exceeding the national behavior of 6.1% and ranking as the second entity with the highest increase, it was only below Tamaulipas where they increased 13.9 percent.
Through the MEITEF, the statistics institute monitors the behavior of informal economic activities at both the national and state levels, including monitoring the Gross Value Added (GVA) -disaggregated into the informal sector and other forms of informality-, as well as information on jobs and salaries.
Informal economy grows 2.3%
In general, the VAV of the informal economy grew 2.3% at an annual ratein Querétaro, during the second quarter of 2025, slightly exceeding the national increase of 1.9 percent.
In particular, the value of the informal sector grew 3.3% in the state, below the national increase of 3.5 percent. The other modalities of informality grew 1.3%, exceeding the national trend that did not register a variation.
Jobs in Querétaro’s informal economy increased 3.7% at an annual rate, above the national average of 2.1%; In the informal sector the state indicator was 7%, while the national one was around 5.8%; and in other modalities, paid work grew 2.5% in the entity, at the national level it was lower, 0.5 percent
The statistics institute explains that the informal economy is made up of the informal sector that includes all economic activities carried out by companies without legal personality owned by households; as well as other forms of informality: in which workers who work in formal economic units do not have social security or social benefits.
