The Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Immigration (Saime) reported that a fee could be paid to process the renewal of the new Venezuelan ID in case of expiration, loss, theft, loss or deterioration.

Gustavo Vizcaíno, director of the organismdisclosed the information during an interview to Venezuelan Televisionin which he affirmed that the new document will be made with materials that involve a cost, for which reason it is being evaluated that the citizen pay a fee.

«It is being considered that the first one be free and the following ones at least pay a fee. If the citizen’s current laminated ID expires, the first digital one will be processed free of charge,” Vizcaíno explained.

The official did not give figures of how much the cost of the “tariff” could be.

Until last March, if a person lost or lost their ID, they could go to any Service office to get a new one. However, since the 13th of that month, an appointment is now required and the person must provide a series of data to achieve it.

Place of residence, eye color, blood type and the page and folio numbers of the birth certificate are some of the information to provide.

Vizcaíno assured that the project of the new identity card continues to advance but that it still must be approved by Nicolás Maduro so that it can be carried out throughout the country.

Vizcaíno also revealed that within the new identity card, it is proposed that people over 65 years of age receive an identity document without an expiration date.

“If approved, those over 65 years of age will have an urgent ID so that they stop being there looking for where to get the ID. That it be an eternal validity until the years of life arrive, “said the director of the Same.
