Sadoky Duarte, the first convicted deputy in the country

Of seven deputies, six of them officialaccused of different crimes and offences, the Dominican justice has condemned to one of these legislators. The representative of the Sánchez Ramírez province, Sadoky DuarteIt’s that congressman.

Duarte was found guilty of “outrage and violence against public authority” this Wednesday at Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ).

Also, and although he was acquitted by that high court, sixteen days ago, congressman Gregorio Dominguez Dominguez, from Santiago, was charged with illegal eviction and property destruction in Puerto Plata. The other legislator who is on the bench right now, but in the United States, is Miguel Gutierrez after he was arrested a year and five months ago in Miami, United States, accused of money laundering and drug trafficking.

Justice currently prosecutes not only congressmen, four of them whose cases have not been known, but who have even been assigned an investigating judge for being linked to drug trafficking. Also to several officials, some already sent to trial on the merits, as is the case of Luis Maisichell Dicent, former administrator of the Lottery National for alleged fraud, and, with coercive measures, the former director of Comunidad Digna, John Maldonado Castro.

Maldonado Castro is part of Falcón’s alleged network, which is credited with exporting thousands of kilograms of drugs to Puerto Rico and whose wife, the Deputy Faustina Guerrero Cabrera, of El Seibo, is one of the three legislators who are still under investigation and have not been asked accusation for the case. Both belong to the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).

The other deputies, together with Guerrero Cabrera, who are hot on the heels of the Public Ministry for the Falcón file, are Nelson Rafael Marmolejos Gil, from Santiago, and Héctor Darío Féliz Féliz, from Oviedo, Flints. Féliz Féliz is a member of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD). The fourth legislator investigated is Rosa Amalia Pilarte Lopezrepresentative of La Vega, and who is linked to the alleged money laundering network allegedly headed by her husband Miguel Arturo Lopez Florencio (Miky Lopez) and two children of both. The special investigating judge of the SCJ assigned to investigate these four deputies is Nelson Estevez Lavandier.

Convict Sadoky

The Second Criminal Chamber of the SCJ found guilty the deputy perremeist Sadoky Duarte for outrage and violence against public authority, which is why he was sentenced to three months in prison.

The outrage and violence against a police agent and a prosecutor occurred in December 2020 in CotuíSánchez Ramírez province.

In their decision, judges Francisco Jerez Mena, Fran Soto and Francisco Ortega also imposed on the legislator a fine of 3,500 pesos.

The conditions of the prison suspension include that Duarte must refrain from approaching or visiting the victims, Disleidy Heredia Figueroa and the prosecutor Francis Valerio, otherwise that part of the sentence will be revoked and he will go to prison.

The agent withdrew the complaint she filed against the deputy. She had accused him of slap her at the moment when the patrol, of which she was part, tried to remove from a street a vehicle left abandoned by five people who fled suspiciously.

Valentin Medranodefense of Duarte, advanced that will appeal the ruling.
