Sacha Llorenti: meeting in the US, it is not a summit, nor is it from the Americas

For Sacha Llorenti, the meeting of heads of state organized by the United States for the month of June, “is not a summit, nor is it of the Americas.”

The Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) explained that the United States tries to “use any space for the benefit of its hegemonic interests.”

In an interview with VTV’s Mundo en Contexto program, he talked about the exclusion of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela from the Summit of the Americas.

In this sense, he said that the US government is not trying to pave the paths of integration to seek to solve problems, but to impose an agenda and use it to benefit its interests.

Llorenti considers that it is a failed call that has failed before it started.

In this regard, he commented on the positions “of the president of Mexico, the president of Honduras, the president of Bolivia, the pro tempore president of CELAC, several Caribbean countries, Argentina that have spoken out against exclusion.”

In the same way, he affirmed that the United States wants to give lessons on democracy, on Human Rights, “but it is an absolutely hypocritical attitude.”

“They don’t realize that Latin America is nobody’s backyard and that this is a continent that is going to build its own path,” he said.

Summit in Havana

Regarding the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the ALBA-TPC that will be held this Friday in Havana, Cuba, Llorenti stressed that it will debate a wide range of political, economic, social, development and integration issues.

He added that the deliberations are expected to result in a statement later.
