Next year the rehabilitation works of the East Pan-American race should begin, as announced by the Minister of Public Works Rafael Sabonge, noting that with this project will improve logistics connectivity in the area and boost the economic development of Panama.
Although he did not specify when, he said that it will depend on the bidding processes so that there is a precise date for the start of these works.
Sabonge recalled that this project, which is carried out in the form of Associations (APP), is in the prequalification stage and while this process is being achieved, maintenance is being given to them as patches, “it is not what we want, that is why we are looking for long-term projects,” he said.
And he assured that this type of financing of long-term maintenance projects ensures that the main highways of the country are in an optimal condition in the long term.
“These are projects that have two-year rehabilitation contracts plus 13 maintenance,” he added.
