Tarek William Saab, prosecutor appointed by the defunct constituent assembly, reported that as of this Wednesday, April 5, there are 51 people arrested for the various corruption schemes recently revealed by the National Anti-Corruption Police.

In the early hours of this Wednesday, another 13 people were presented in court for alleged crimes related to the corruption plot revealed within the administration of Nicolás Maduro, which culminated at 6:00 am. Among them are the president of the Venezuelan Corporation of Guayana (CVG), Pedro Maldonado and Hugo Cabezas, who presides over the state Cartones de Venezuela.

In the case of Pdvsa Cripto, 34 people are detained, among them Hugbel Roa, Joselit Ramírez Camacho, Antonio Pérez Suárez, José Agustín Ramos, Yamil Martínez, Odoardo José Bordones, Heinrich Chapellín, Jesús Enrique Salazar, Rajiv Alberto Mosqueda, Alejandro Arroyo, Bernardo Arosio, Fernando Bermudez, Leonardo Torres, Jackeline Perico, José Lima, Jesús Ramírez, José Luís Silva, Gustavo Carmona, Juan Moreno, Pedro Fernández, Oscar Rojas, Jean Golman Meyer, Cardozo González, Luis Guzmán and Miguel Irigoyen.

After his resignation on March 20 as head of the Oil portfolio, the legal situation and whereabouts of El Aissami are unknown to date.

Saab and the Ramírez case

“The document issued by the US court refers to the possibility of Reiter testifying against Ramírez, for a corruption plot, which consisted of receiving bribes in exchange for using his authority in PDVSA to assign multimillion-dollar public projects that were paid to contractors with state money,” he said from the headquarters of the Public Ministry.

Regarding Nervis Villalobos, former Vice Minister of Electric Power, he said he is accused of channeling bribes and managing the funds of all the participants in the corruption scheme, as well as Diego Salazar, who committed irregularities with the management of domestic and international insurance for PDVSA .

“Villalobos had accounts in Andorra and Switzerland, which he used to grant bribery payments to PDVSA officials, including Rafael Ramírez, who demanded that the payments not be sent directly to him,” Saab said, reiterating that all these cases have also been investigated. by the Venezuelan prosecutor.

On the other hand, Saab indicated that 127 people have been investigated in 31 cases of irregularities. against public property committed in more than a decade. “Venezuelan justice has acted in an efficient and timely manner in these cases,” he said.

Of this number of 127 investigated, 10 are in the preliminary phase, 16 in the trial phase, 75 convicted for a total of 228.

“There are 361 former officials prosecuted for corruption (…) I would like to highlight this long fight that the Ministry has led not only for Pdvsa Cripto, but in general we have made 63,188 actions, 11,364 acts, 1,690 charges and 667 accusations.”
