The congresswoman and spokesperson for Together for Peru, Ruth Luqueaffirmed that during a meeting with President Pedro Castillo at the Government Palace, he informed the president that, in his opinion, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Juan Silva Villegasshould not continue in front of the MTC as a result of the numerous questions to his management.
In dialogue with Radio Nacional, Luque Ibarra also considered that what the Deputy Minister of Transport, Fabiola Caballero Sifuentes, denounces in her resignation letter “forces this sector to be reconsidered.”
“What the Deputy Minister of Transport denounced yesterday puts on the table the need for the Government, especially the Transport and Communications portfolio, to be honest about how they are making this set of appointments,” he said.

The spokeswoman for Together for Peru recalled that her caucus supported the challenge to the head of the MTC: “We subscribe and vote in favor of the challenge. We held a dialogue with the Minister of Transport where we directly sent him a set of discomforts about the way the MTC is perceived due to various complaints that arise, not only due to hiring, but also due to the possible setback of the transport reform.”
“At the time, when I spoke directly with the president, the only time I went to the Palace as a spokesperson, I let him know my individual position that for me the Minister of Transport should no longer be in charge of this sector,” he added.

“What Deputy Minister Caballero presented yesterday is very worrying. (…) Congress and all of Peru are surprised, I did not think that this was happening within the Ministry of Transport and Communications. It warrants an investigation. As a member of the Oversight Commission, I am going to send a document so that we can call her so that as a witness she can tell us where those points of corruption are,” Elera told Exitosa.
