Representatives of the Moscow City Hall, from Russia, are in Brasilia to share at the meeting of new mayors and mayors, which ends on Thursday (13), the experiences of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the management of the capital of the European country. The initiative is promoted by the International Forum of BRICS+ Municipalities (IMBICS).
Forum ambassador Pedro Pugliese highlighted Brazil agency that bilateral meetings were held among Brazilian Russians and mayors.
“These initiatives demonstrate how technology can be applied to solve urban challenges and improve citizens’ quality of life, encouraging other cities to adopt similar solutions,” he said.
AI in Moscow is used, for example, to optimize urban traffic by predicting and reducing traffic jams, adjusting traffic lights in real time based on vehicle flow and public transport.
Another use of AI in the management of Moscow is the automation of administrative processes, such as issuing documents, medical appointments and requesting public services, reducing the time spent on bureaucracy.
The tool is also used to monitor and predict failures in critical infrastructure such as electrical networks, water distribution and public road maintenance.
“The interest of municipalities in cooperation via BRICS has grown significantly, evidenced by the active participation of delegations from various cities in related forums and events. This engagement is due to the potential that BRICS offer to foster multilateral relationships and expand the possibilities of intercity partnerships and civil society, ”said Pedro Pugliese.
The first edition of the BRICS International Forum of Municipalities took place in 2019 in São Petersburg, Russia. As Brazil assumed the presidency of the bloc this year, the BRICS Mayor Meeting in 2025 will be held in the country during May, in a city to be defined.
Forum ambassador Pedro Pugliese argues that the initiative brings unique benefits to Brazilian municipal managers because collaboration is between emerging economies facing similar challenges
