Russian spokesman Dimitry Peskov urged third countries not to encourage destabilizing actions
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned of attempts to destabilize Venezuela following the results of Sunday’s elections, in which President Nicolás Maduro won.
Speaking to the mediathe official urged third countries not to encourage the actions of destabilization.
“It is very important that attempts to shake up the situation in Venezuela are not fed by third countries, so that Venezuela is free from external interference,” Peskov said.
He also said that the results should be accepted by the opposition and that the winner, President Maduro, should be congratulated.
“We see that the opposition does not want to accept its defeat, but we believe that it should do so and congratulate the winner of these elections,” Peskov said, as quoted by Latin Press.
The National Electoral Council (CNE) proclaimed Nicolás Maduro as re-elected president for the 2025-2031 period, after winning the elections with 51.2% of the votes, according to the entity’s first bulletin.
