Russia has imposed personal sanctions on 25 Americans, including actors Sean Penn and Ben Stiller, in response to punitive US measures against Russians for invading Ukraine.
US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo is on this new sanctioned list, as are several senators, including Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona; Kevin Cramer of North Dakota; Mike Rounds of South Dakota; Rick Scott of Florida; and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the group, which also includes business leaders, academics and government officials, would be barred from entering Russia.
Previous Russian sanctions against Americans have included President Joe Biden and members of his family, as well as lawmakers and business leaders.
The United States has sanctioned numerous Russians, including government officials and businessmen.
Sean Penn and Ben Stiller have been outspoken critics of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
