Faced with a new act of piracy carried out by the US military forces by stealing a third ship with Venezuelan oil, Russia spoke out on the matter and firmly expressed its solidarity with Venezuela, ratifying its full support for the nation in the face of the hostilities perpetrated by the Trump Administration.
The Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, reported through his Telegram channel that he had a conversation with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, in which both reviewed the flagrant aggressions and violations of international law that have been committed in the Caribbean, where the US has carried out attacks against ships and extrajudicial executions, in addition to the recent illicit acts of piracy.
After this event, Lavrov reiterated once again that Russia supports Venezuela in the defense of the peace zone of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) and international law, emphasizing that this type of aggression cannot be tolerated.
Finally, the foreign ministers of Russia and Venezuela reaffirmed the relationship of brotherhood, respect and strategic cooperation that unites both nations.
It should be noted that China also raised its voice in rejection of this illegal action and expressed that it opposes all forms of unilateralism and intimidation.
In this sense, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that Venezuela has the right to independently develop mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries.
For his part, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted the resistance capacity of the Venezuelan people and institutions in the face of what he described as a harassment strategy that ranges from psychological terrorism to forceful actions in international waters during these 25 weeks, facing and defeating a campaign of multiform aggression.
