According to the monitor developed by the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), which reports daily on the evolution of the vaccination plan designed by the Executive, at 10:27 a.m. (1:27 p.m. GMT) on Tuesday, 2,736,466 people have received the two doses. against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which represents 77.24% of the Uruguayan population.
The percentage rises to 83.70% in the administration of the first dose, a figure that has increased in recent weeks, mainly due to the start of vaccination in children between 5 and 11 years of age.
In addition, according to that registry, 1.9 of the 3.5 million inhabitants of the country received a booster dose in recent months, and the administration of a fourth injection has even been authorized for some cases.
Last weekend the authorities of the Public Health portfolio celebrated the anniversary of the start of the immunization plan with several messages on social networks, since, although mass vaccination began on March 1, a few days before the inoculation to the health personnel who had to occupy the vaccination clinics.
“27.2.22 one year after the start of Vaccination (sic) in Uruguay against Covid-19. I thank those who made it possible: advising, planning, the vaccinators and the citizens for the response,” the minister, Daniel Salinas, wrote on his Twitter account.
Meanwhile, his number 2, José Luis Satdjian, opened a thread explaining the milestones of the vaccination plan, among which he highlighted that “thanks to the great adherence of the population, on July 2 (2021) only 4 months after When the campaign started, 50% of the population already had 2 doses”.
So far, the country has administered 7,627,081 doses of the Chinese CoronaVac, American Pfizer or Anglo-Swedish AstraZeneca vaccines, which are the three that have arrived in Uruguay.
Since March 13, 2020, when the health emergency was declared in Uruguay due to the detection of the first four positives, the country has accumulated 842,462 cases, of which 22,570 are active, and 6,985 deaths.
