AREQUIPA, Peru – The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitri Chernichenko, announced this Friday that Moscow granted the Cuban regime a credit for 60 million dollars for the purchase of fuel.
The event came to light during the visit of the senior official to the Island on the occasion of the meeting of the Russia-Cuba Intergovernmental Commission. It also occurs in the midst of a severe energy crisis in the country, marked by the collapse of the national electrical system and long blackouts.
A report from the state media Cubadebate points out that the Russian Government also granted a donation to the Castro regime for the acquisition of necessary parts and components that contribute to the recovery of Cuban thermoelectric plants.
Russia will send 80,000 tons of diesel and equipment to Cuba for an amount of 62 million dollars, “to help the Island overcome the current energy emergency,” reports the official agency. Latin Press.
According to a report from the official mission of the Eurasian country in this capital, Havana, the collaboration will be carried out on the instructions of President Vladimir Putin.
As part of his visit to the Island, Dmitri Chernichenko held a meeting with the dictator Miguel Díaz-Canel. In addition, his agenda includes a visit to the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God of Kazan, where he will participate in a religious service, and a meeting with students from one of the schools in the Cuban capital where the Russian language is studied.
In less than a month, Cuba suffered the scourge of hurricanes Oscar, in the eastern zone, and Rafael, by the westwhich was combined with the collapse of the National Electric Service and worsened the existing crisis in the country.
Although the Cuban regime continues to blame the United States embargo as triggering the national blackout, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero recently recognized that “the state of the infrastructure, the lack of fuel and the increase in demand” are determining factors in the current situation.
