“We have read a lot of information about it. It is alarming information,” Dmitri Peskov, presidential spokesman, commented to the local press on Monday.

The president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, recently declared in the Kremlin that Moscow stands in solidarity with Havana’s “determination in defending its sovereignty and independence,” although he refrained from criticizing Trump for the capture of Venezuela’s leader, Nicolás Maduro, the main ally of the Castro regime.
Russia, one of the island’s main trading partners, signed a military cooperation agreement with Cuba in March 2025.
