The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, María Zajárova, called on the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to resolve the matter “within the framework of international legal norms,” thanks to his “pragmatism and rationality.”
Russia condemned this Thursday, December 25, the United States’ attempts to destabilize Venezuela and hoped that the issue can be resolved through legal means.
“We strongly condemn these acts (the US actions around Venezuela) and demand stability and respect for legality in the maritime sphere,” said Russian Foreign Affairs spokesperson María Zajárova at a press conference.
The one who worked as a diplomat in Washington added that Moscow “advocates for de-escalation of the current situation and for the maintenance of trust and predictability.”

Zajárova described the latest events in the Caribbean as “legal chaos”, having “reactivated practices that we thought we had long forgotten, such as the illegal appropriation of other people’s assets, piracy, assaults and banditry,” reports the TASS agency.
In this way, he called on the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to solve the matter “within the framework of international legal norms,” thanks to his “pragmatism and rationality.”
Since last August, the United States has maintained a military presence in the Caribbean, near Venezuelan waters. Nicolás Maduro considers a “threat” of invasion and an attempt to promote a regime change, although Donald Trump assures that it is to combat drug trafficking.
The president of the United States declared that Maduro would be “smart” if he chose to leave power and warned him that if he “plays tough,” it will be “the last time” he does so.
