The embassy of the Russian Federation in Uruguay held a reception this Friday on the occasion of Russia’s National Day whose commemoration date is June 12. The event was held at the embassy headquarters in Montevideo. Representatives of various diplomatic bodies, including Qatar, Mexico, Iran, Venezuela and Armenia, among others, participated in it.
On behalf of the Uruguayan government, the Undersecretary of Foreign Relations, Carolina Ache, attended. In addition, different personalities of the national life, media, including a team from TeleR, from GrupoRMultimedio, were present. The meeting included a few words from the Federation ambassador in our country, Andrey Budaev. The head of diplomacy, outlined before those present that “despite the fact that this festival does not have a long history, it has become the most popular and beloved among our people.” He emphasized that in the current context it acquires “a special meaning.”
The head of the Russian diplomatic mission stressed that despite being 32 years old (the Russian Federation was founded in 1991), the holiday is of paramount importance for the nation and society of that country. This is because it not only marks “the events of the modern history of the country, but the entire comprehensive path of the nation,” said Budaev. After the ambassador’s oratory, the artistic moment of the day proceeded by the lyrical singer Evgenia Pirshina who interpreted a work by the composer Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky.
