In 2015, there was an overrepresentation of the PRI-Green coalition, since in that year candidates from the tricolor party registered in the Green Party to circumvent the law. As a result of this, in 2018 the INE established rules to evaluate the effective militancy of the candidates
by the parties that were nominated. Thus, it was established that the candidate had to demonstrate that he was a member of the party he represented.
In the 2021 electoral process, the issue of effective membership was reinforced, in order to achieve a more careful distribution of representation.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Branch corrected the allocation to ensure parity.
