The future Chief of Staff, Rui Costa, confirmed today (22) that the executive secretary of his portfolio will be under the responsibility of Miriam Belchior. She was Minister of Planning, Budget and Management and president of Caixa Econômica Federal in the government of Dilma Rousseff.
Previously, he served in the Civil House, during the two terms of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and was responsible for monitoring the Federal government’s strategic projects and for coordinating the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC).
Miriam holds a master’s degree in Public Administration and Government from Fundação Getúlio Vargas. From 1997 to 2002 she was Secretary of Administration and Administrative Modernization and later Secretary of Social Inclusion and Housing at the Municipality of Santo André.
In a statement, Rui Costa’s advisory also reported that the current Secretary of Infrastructure for Bahia, Marcus Cavalcanti, will head the Special Secretariat for the Partnerships and Investments Program (PPI). The PPI, which today is part of the structure of the Ministry of Economy, will be integrated into the Civil House in the next government.
Cavalcanti is an effective public servant in Bahia, having held several leadership positions in departments and autarchies of the Bahian government. He has been at the head of the Infrastructure Secretariat since 2014. In 2010, he took over the state’s Transport Superintendence. Currently, he also chairs the Board of Directors of Bahiagás.
He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the Federal University of Bahia.
