He added that there are possibilities in this 21st century to continue expanding life expectancy, which he considered very good, but it puts pressure on social security systems.
“For a long time we have been dealing with this problem as if it were a pregnant turtle,” said Rubén Castillo Gil, president of the National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep) about the dialogue of the Social Security Fund (CSS), adding that we are soon going to find a harsh reality.
He assured that the problem is increasing. “We established a dialogue and the private company is going to maintain all lines of communication based on building a consensus. The dialogue went into a recess,” he said.
He added that there are possibilities in this 21st century to continue expanding life expectancy, which he considered very good, but it puts pressure on social security systems.
He stressed that rational solutions must be sought and that one cannot start from simple occurrences.
Castillo Gil remarked that there is the wrong criterion that what the private company wants is for the services of the CSS to be privatized, however, that is not under discussion. “The private company has tried to promote administrative reforms,” he said.
