This Thursday, February 3, the Panamanian film “Plaza Catedral” officially premieres in all theaters in Panama, and the singer Rubén Blades invites all Panamanians to attend said premiere, the first film to be part of the semifinalists at the Oscar awards.

Through a video published on his Instagram account, Master Blades asked Panamanians to support national cinema, not only because it is a great production but also because of the subject it deals with, which in his opinion “resonates today more than ever.”

It should be noted that the initial date of the premiere of the film had to be postponed, due to the high cases of Covid-19 in the country.

“Cathedral Square” is a film by Abner Benaim, starring Ilse Salas, Manolo Cardona and Fernando Xavier De Castta (RIP); He is currently in the running for the Oscar Awards.

The film shows how Alicia’s life changes when she loses her son in an accident, the poverty that surrounds her and the situations she will have to face in a neighborhood considered one of the poorest in Panama.
