Roy Barreras and his wink for Germán Vargas Lleras to be mayor of Bogotá

Roy Barreras and his wink for Germán Vargas Lleras to be mayor of Bogotá

On October 29 of next year, regional elections will be held in Colombia, in which 1,102 mayors and 12,072 councilors will be elected from all the municipalities in the country.including the capital district;, as well as the 6,513 councilors that will make up the Local Administrative Boards (JAL).

When we are less than a year away from these elections, the rattle of names of possible candidates for mayor of the main cities, especially Bogotá, begins to move.

It may interest you: Would Germán Vargas Lleras return to the public square to campaign for politics next year?

In the case of the capital of the Republic, this week the name of the former vice president of the Republic and leader of Cambio Radical began to sound loud, German Vargas Lleras. The curious thing about the case is that Vargas Lleras began to ring because Roy Barreras, from the Historical Pact, highlighted his abilities and considered that he would be a great mayor for the country’s capital.

“That my companions in the Pact should not shoot me… but Germán Vargas Lleras could be a great Mayor for Bogotá. Objectivity and balance in judgments must take precedence over antipathy. (It would be necessary to see if someone injects him with social sensitivity and a pinch of humanity),” Barreras wrote, citing a column by Vargas Lleras.

In his column, the former vice president strongly questioned the mobility crisis in the capital, which he described as “hell.”

“We live through hell when trying to get out of or into the city. It doesn’t matter which route is chosen, the traffic jams are making people think twice before deciding to take the road. The only journey to get out of Bogotá takes time elderly than the displacement to the place of destination ”, says a section of the text.
