In 2003, Jody Thompson and Cali Ressler, employees of the Best Buy company, devised a way of working that they called ROWE; Results-Only Work Environment, which in Spanish means work environment focused on
results.

It is a work-free system that allows employees to manage their own time and resources, as long as the established results or KPIs are met. This system is applied in some areas of companies and can work in offices, home-office or, in the best of cases, in hybrid work models.

I imagine that if you were born before the 1980s, the phrase “work-free system” has bothered you, however, you need to understand that freedom always comes with greater responsibility and that this responsibility empowers employees by increasing their ability to contribute genuinely to the common good of companies and, above all, drives their desire to continually improve, since their performance depends entirely on themselves.

Millennials, or rather, those born between 1985 and 2000, are the largest generational group of the economically active world population, therefore, it would be counterproductive to manage human resources without understanding how this generation thinks, which, surely today by Today, it makes up the largest portion of your company’s payroll.

This is a generation that beyond a good salary and stability, values much more a good work environment that allows them to have a balance between work and personal life.

Millennials constantly change their field, job and even country, until they find a
place where they can develop
quality of life and professional growth. This generation, to be motivated, needs to feel that their ideas are taken into account and that their work has a real impact on society.

On the other hand, they are discouraged by routine and bureaucratic processes, they are young multi-taskers who adapt very quickly to change since they have grown up immersed in the great advance of technology that they use today as a strategic ally to be more efficient in operations. your day-to-day tasks.

The internet and multi-device systems hosted in the cloud are mandatory in any company that wants to keep its portion of Millennials happy in order to give them the flexibility to continue working anytime, anywhere and on any device.

The ROWE system and the Millennials are definitely made for each other. The pandemic has already shown us that home-office models and hybrid work models are possible and in many cases, depending on the item, even more efficient; as long as you have a highly professional and responsible workforce, with very well defined and measurable objectives that focus solely on productivity and not on schedules or other variables from the beginning of the last century.
