This Thursday, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez, and the president of Grupo Aval, Luis Sarmiento, the delivery of the Chirajara-Fundadores road corridor, in the department of Meta. This is the tenth fourth generation (4G) project completed by the current National Government, and which generated more than 14,000 jobs in the region.

In this concession, under the responsibility of the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), 22.6 kilometers of second lane were built; six tunnels (10.4 kilometers); 20 vehicular bridges and 7 pedestrian bridges (5 km of viaducts built).
This work required an investment of $3.2 billion, and that, according to Coviandina, it was financed 100% with resources from Corficolombiana, a subsidiary of Grupo Aval, without investment from the State and recovered through the payment of tolls. This work will allow Meta and the Eastern Plains, regions that are Colombia’s agricultural and livestock pantry, and with the largest hydrocarbon production in the country, to have more efficient and safer access roads.

At the event, President Iván Duque thanked all the actors in the project and especially the concession workers who made this initiative a reality less than 30 days before the end of the mandate.
“We are delivering one more section of the national strategic connection in what we have called the fourth generation roads. Chirajara-Fundadores is emblematic, more than 85 km and an investment of more than $3 billion pesos that benefits hundreds of thousands of inhabitants that connects the country with the region”, said the head of state.
In his turn, Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo, president of Grupo Aval, showed his delight at the project and at being able to deliver it earlier than agreed with the Government.
“Today is a day of joy, it is a special day, not only for the department of Meta (…) but also for Grupo Aval, the work we finished is a source of pride and it is a reason for joy to be able to deliver it on time agreed, less than the time established in the contract”, said the president of Grupo Aval.
In addition, he added that the road will not have a new toll of any kind and that this will be the path for the development of the department. “The department of Meta has already done enough to contribute financially to this highway, which will be one of the most important in the country,” he said.
He concluded by saying about this dynamic of construction: “The precise symbol is to match the studies and put them to work, it has to be a national purpose, and for this we must start with a special statute that I would make as a condition that acquired rights be respected, here It does not come with the story that we are going to change all this and expropriate the whole world, no sir, we work intelligently, the projects are designed, the investment is made and each person who put their land is compensated ”, he closed Sarmiento.
The Chirajara-Fundadores corridor, according to the Government, was designed and built with the highest international engineering standards, due to the geographical challenges of the region.
Through a statement, the Ministry of Transport said: “it was in the middle of a difficult mountain system, and that also makes it an important tourist attraction.”
The works on this road directly benefit 600,000 inhabitants of the departments of Meta and Cundinamarca, especially the citizens of Chipaque, Cáqueza, Quetame, Guayabetal, Une, Gutiérrez and Villavicencio. Also, it achieves an estimated reduction of 22 minutes in travel time for freight transport between the central region, the Eastern Plains and the Orinoquía, through which between 8,000 and 10,000 vehicles are moved on average daily.
However, 14,136 jobs were generated in this projectbetween direct and indirect, during its construction, which marks an important achievement in terms of economic reactivation.
