Lacalle Pou inaugurated works between Artigas and Tranqueras

“Today I come to fulfill my commitment and that is the nicest thing a ruler can do,” said the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, at the inauguration of the rehabilitation works on route No. 30. The works, which involved an investment of more than 30,000,000 dollars, included a reconstruction with granular material, recycled with Portland cement, and the execution of the asphalt layer.

The inauguration ceremony of the road works took place this Wednesday the 9th at kilometer 222 of route No. 30, in the town of Masoller, in Rivera. On the occasion, Lacalle Pou was accompanied by the Minister of Transportation, José Luis Falero; the undersecretary of the portfolio, Juan José Olaizola; the mayors of Rivera and Artigas, Richard Sander and Elizabeth Volpi, respectively; the departmental heads of Tacuarembó, Wilson Ezquerra, and of Cerro Largo, José Yurramendi; the mayor of Tranqueras, Luciano Viera, national and departmental authorities, and representatives of construction companies.

The rehabilitation tasks on the route were carried out on a 114-kilometer stretch that connects the department of Artigas with the city of Tranqueras, in Rivera.

The road works, which involved an investment of $30,728,084, included the reconstruction of the sector with granular material, recycled with Portland cement, and the execution of the asphalt layer, as well as the road, shoulders, metal defenses and vertical and horizontal signage. .

The president highlighted the importance of the works on the route that connects the departments of Rivera and Artigas. “It is a substantial change,” he said, adding that not only were things done well, but much more was done, because money was taken care of and people were respected. “This Government ends up optimizing resources,” he considered.

“Today I come to fulfill my commitment and that is the nicest thing a ruler can do,” he said.

Route No. 30 was secondary and is now primary, Falero indicated. In this regard, he pointed out that this change involved cementing and incorporating an eight-centimeter asphalt mixture, which made it a highly durable road.

“We considered it a priority to remake this route in the conditions that the area and the two departments that are linked through it deserve,” said the leader.

Likewise, he recalled that when the road was in poor condition, it was decided to travel through Brazilian routes. “We in Uruguay do not deserve to have a route that is not in good condition,” said Falero, and referred to the transformation process in various parts of the country to provide people with adequate connectivity.

In addition, he reviewed several of the road works developed in the current administration in the northern part of the country and announced that the inauguration, in the month of February 2025, of the works being carried out on route No. 27, which connects Vichadero with Rivera.
