The former Minister of Defense of the Nation, Agustín Rossi, called on Friday night to “consolidate unity” in the Frente de Todos (FdT) with the purpose of “strengthening the management of President Alberto Fernández, by heading in the city of Corrientes the launch of the National Militancy Current.
“My definition is the one given by Cristina (Fernández de Kirchner), this is a debate and it has to have a synthesis. If there isn’t, we have to learn to live with the differences. If they persist, that’s what the STEPS are for to settle them. Meanwhile, let’s lower the tension and strengthen the management”Rossi pointed out when speaking before militants and leaders of the FdT.
In this sense, the former defense minister explained that “strengthening management is useful to all” of the ruling party and whoever “thinks of being a candidate for president.”
In other sections of his speech, Rossi harshly questioned former president Mauricio Macriwho “in 2015 inaugurated a statue of Juan Domingo Perón and last week said that populism in Argentina was introduced in the first Justicialist government.
“Macri said that they came to end the populism of Eva and Perón. So a very strong and very hard ideological and historical debate is coming in the near future,” predicted the leader of Peronism from Santa Fe.
The former national deputy stressed the value of internal unity by indicating that Alberto Fernández’s management “did many things in which we all agree and have no differences.”
“This government achieved great growth in the economy and a sharp drop in unemployment. Work is being done on the Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline; there is a solid plan for public works and housing. We also support the creation of a fund to pay the debt with the IMF with money leaked abroad. There are no differences in that,” he remarked.
However, he warned: “Sometimes we are shooting ourselves in the feet, because we talk more about the differences than about the agreements and it makes everything more difficult”.
“I claim the terms of unity of the Front and that the Government continues to express in the formation of this coalition. We must see the glass half full. I am optimistic. I think that we have passed the peak of the debate, which is going to descend and we will give the answers that the population as a whole needs,” he stressed.
Rossi was accompanied by the president of the FdT bloc in the Chamber of Deputies, German Martinez; the national legislators for Corrientes, Jorge Antonio Romero, Nancy Sand and Fabian Borda; by Chaco, John Manuel Pedrini and for Santa Fe, Patricia Mounier.
The director of Aña Cuá-Yacyretá Fabián Ríos also accompanied the act and by zoom, the head of the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (Afip) Mercedes Marcó del Pont.
