Through amparo and appeal resources, the former head of the secretariats of Social Development and Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development, Rosario Robles Berlanga, will have a new opportunity for the control judge Ganther Alejandro Villar Ceballos to review the precautionary measures that were imposed on her (justified preventive detention) and determine specifically if the crime of improper exercise that the former official is charged with was already prescribed when she was accused by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
Judicial sources announced that the third district court admitted the procedure and granted the provisional suspension requested by the defense of Robles Berlanga, contrary to the resolution that was issued on December 30, when Villar Ceballos ratified for the fifth consecutive time that the former official was to remain in prison.
Robles has insisted on the change of precautionary measures, that is, that the justified preventive detention that was imposed on him since August 2019 at the request of the Federal Public Ministry be withdrawn.
The former Secretary of State of the Peña Nieto government is accused of improper exercise of public service and having caused damage to the federal treasury for more than 5 billion pesos.
