The Rosario Cárdenas Company will present the piece in its absolute premiere I always come back, visits to Belkis Ayóna creation by choreographer, teacher and director Rosario Cárdenas Prieto (2013 National Dance Award), conceived as a profound tribute to the visual artist Belkis Ayón (1967–1999) and her powerful symbolic universe of African roots.
The work is articulated from the corporal and sensory experience provoked by Ayón’s collographs, avoiding traditional narration to dialogue, through dance, with the visual arts and memory. On stage, 14 dancers transfigure that iconography into images crossed by sound and movement, in a proposal of great poetic and contemporary force.
The show has dramaturgical advice by Raquel Carrió, live music by DJ Iván Lejardi, sound manipulations by Juan Piñera, costumes by Cris-Cris, lights and set design by Yaimé Rodríguez and audiovisual interventions by Juan Caunedo, confirming a performance of high artistic rigor born from a deep body investigation.
