The Spanish singer Rosalía revealed this Thursday the single “Tuya”, a “sensual” reggaeton song in which he experiments with the koto, Japan’s national instrument.

“Exploration is part of who I am as a musician, in the case of ‘Yours’ The inspiration of reggaeton, Japanese instruments, flamenco and gabber techno converge and coexist on the same level,” said the interpreter in a statement distributed by her label Columbia Records.

The song talks about a sexual encounter between two people, and in the video clip the author of “Saoko” wandering the streets of Tokyo.

The note describes that video as “a love letter to Japan”, a country that has greatly influenced the singer’s art, and its direction has been carried out by Stillz, famous for his work with artists such as Bad Bunny, Lil Nas X and Rosalía herself.

In “Yours”, the singer expands the sound universe of her latest album “Motomami” with basses from the most classic reggaeton and takes up the influences of Asian aesthetics present in videos of other of his songs, such as “Candy” -also recorded in Tokyo-, “Chicken Teriyaki” and “Hentai”.

The single’s premiere occurs during Pride Month and there are rumors on social media that the The song could be dedicated to her friend, the American actress and icon of the LGBT community, Hunter Schafer.

After touring the world with the “Motomami” tour in 2022, Rosalía has dedicated 2023 to performing at various festivals such as Coachella, in California (USA), or more recently at Primavera Sound in Barcelona.
