Manuel Rosales spoke out against the arrest of the mayor of Maracaibo, Rafael Ramírez Colina, calling it arbitrary and detrimental to the peace of the country. Meanwhile, the Public Ministry has appointed a specialized prosecutor to investigate its links to acts of corruption.
The governor of the state of Zulia, Manuel Rosales, spoke about the arrest of the mayor of Maracaibo, Rafael Ramírez Colina, who was arbitrarily imprisoned by agents of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) on October 1.
“Those of us who have insisted on seeking solutions within the democratic channel consider that the arrest of the mayor of Maracaibo, Rafael Ramírez Colina, does nothing to help achieve the peace that the country demands,” Rosales published on his X account (formerly Twitter)
The president of the Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT) party hopes that Ramírez Colina’s situation will be clarified as soon as possible “so that the reunion with his family, co-workers and the communities of Maracaibo can take place.”

In Rosales’ opinion, the mayor of Maracaibo is a social fighter with a well-known career who is currently working with his team in the recovery of the city and, in addition, has left records as a factor that, through dialogue, contributes to the search of peace.
This October 2, the Venezuelan Prosecutor’s Office appointed a national prosecutor specialized in corruption to process complaints against officials of the Maracaibo Mayor’s Office, for alleged crimes contemplated in the Anti-Corruption Law.
