The organization Justicia Encuentro y Perdón (JEP) warned about the worsening of the Rory Branker situation, who this Monday celebrates 250 days deprived of liberty, without access to a legal defense and “living in constant uncertainty that puts his integrity as a person and as a citizen at risk.”
The NGO reported that his family is going through new and deep pain after the death of his only brother, Erman Branker, who “during all this time brought him food and daily support.” With his departure, Rory and his 80-year-old mother are left in a situation of “enormous vulnerability.”
“His mother, already fragile due to age, faces each day with anguish and fear, without knowing how her son is or when she will be able to see him again. A pain that no person should experience,” the organization said.
In its statement, JEP made an urgent call to the authorities to review Rory Branker’s case and adopt precautionary measures that allow him to regain his freedom.
“From our organization we urgently call on the authorities to review Rory’s case and take precautionary measures that allow him to regain his freedom, guarantee his right to defense and protect his dignity and that of his family. Keeping him detained in these conditions prolongs the injustice and multiplies the suffering of those who love him.”
The organization He concluded by urging action “with humanity and urgency.” “Every day that passes is another day of unnecessary pain for Rory and for his mother, who at 80 years old is still waiting for news of her son. The life and dignity of this family deserve immediate respect and protection,” they stressed.
