Ronald Acuña will become Oriente Petrolero’s first signing in this transfer market. He is a 31-year-old Paraguayan striker who has already arrived in Santa Cruz and was present on Tuesday at the San Antonio headquarters.
“I was undergoing medical studies and in the next few hours I hope to close my connection to the club. I feel very good, I was doing preseason at another club and I came here,” Acuña said to the media upon leaving San Antonio.
“I have not yet spoken with President Ronald Raldes, but I did have contact with other leaders,” he added.
The Guaraní attacker arrives at Albiverde from FC Zamora of the first division of Venezuelan football. His main task will be to fill the empty space left by Gilbert Álvarez and Marcos Riquelme.
“I was in Zamora, Venezuela, I did a good job there, and that allowed me to come to a great club like Oriente Petrolero. I am a center forward and I aspire to a lot this year. “I work to become a scorer,” he said.
Last season with Zamora, Acuña played 19 games and scored 5 goals, so he hopes to improve his numbers with the refinery shirt.
Likewise, the player recognized the delicate economic situation that the club is going through and hopes to be registered to face the Professional Division tournaments. Due to debts owed to former players, Oriente is unable to qualify new players before FIFA. This punishment will be lifted when the club settles with the complainants.
First squad
According to the planning of the coaching staff and the leadership, the preseason of the first team is scheduled to begin this Wednesday at the San Antonio headquarters.
