Romulus MuchoMinister of Energy and Mines, reported that he expects that this Tuesday, September 17, the five new members of the company’s board of directors can be announced. Petroperufollowing a meeting with the Minister of Economy, José Arista.
“According to the law, we are the ones who oversee the National Shareholders’ Meeting, but we will speak tomorrow with Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzén and President Dina Boluarte. Tomorrow afternoon we hope to make the announcement,” he said on RPP.

He also acknowledged that the situation is delicate, saying that his sector will elect two members, while the MEF will select three.
“We know that Petroperú, throughout its existence, has generated profits and solved problems. It was the petty cash of many governments. We have inherited this and we are putting all our effort, experience and expertise into resolving (the crisis). We have worked with the Prime Minister and Mr. Arista to find the formula so that it is not felt as just a financial support, but rather a financial viability,” he said.
As a reminder, the government approved an emergency decree granting financial support of around US$750 million to the state oil company.
In an official statement, the Board of Directors of Petroperú, appointed by the General Shareholders Meeting (GSM), announced last week its collective resignation due to the lack of a statement by the Government regarding the company’s financial situation.
