The President of the Committee for Santa Cruz, Rómulo Calvo, came out to reject and play down the warnings that came out from the Pact of Unity, bloc of institutions related to masimo. The civic leader branded them as exploiters of the State and pointed directly against Juan Carlos Huarachi, executive secretary of the Bolivian Workers’ Center (COB), and the leader of the Departmental Workers Center of Santa Cruz (COD), Rolando Borda.
“It’s something we completely downplay, They do not represent the workers, for me, they are freeloaders of the State”stated when asked about the message issued by the Unity Pact on possible “countermarches and strikes” if the sectors of Santa Cruz maintain their mobilizations for the Census.
The warnings of the Pact of Unity were issued by Huarachi after the Santa Cruz institutions (represented by more than 300 entities) convened a new summit for the census to analyze “new actions” this Saturday at 15:00, if the Government does not back down on its decision to conduct the national survey by 2024, an issue for which there is still no date.
Calvo also pointed to Rolando Borda: “You see it here at Borda that sHe puts on his helmet throughout the press conference and hasn’t seen an oil well in 30 years“, he added in reference to the leader of the COD.
And it is that Borda also added fuel to the fire with his statements, by ask the governor of Santa Cruz Luis Fernando Camacho “borrowing the pants” of Mayor Johnny Fernández, who attended the meeting of municipal authorities with President Luis Arce.
“The heads of the COB are benefiting economically from the State, abusing the workers,” Calvo said, alluding to the leaders of that organization.
The census process was postponed -no date- until 2024 as a result of the agreement between President Luis Arce and the eight governors in the National Council of Autonomies (CNA).
The COB is part of the Pact of Unity, an alliance of several social organizations related to the MAS.
