SANTO DOMINGO.- The Senator for the Province La Romana on Tuesday asked President Luis Abinader, to pay attention to the problem of the blackouts, which are registered nationwide.
Eduard Alexis Spiritusant regretted that energy cuts have bother the population again, and said that “the man who works finds his house off when he returns from his work, due to the electrical crisis.”

“Many years ago the blackouts were history, but they have returned again. There is anxiety in the population for the discomfort that this situation generates,” said the congressman, in this Tuesday’s session of the Senate of the Republic.

He added that “he does not remember the last time he has been invested in the electricity sector,” so he called the Government to pay attention to that situation, “to avoid returning to the 20th century.”
“Dominican Republic is a country that has invested a lot of money in the electricity sector. I want to know what is needed to have a sector that guarantees electricity to the population,” insisted the legislator of the official Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).
He argued that “it is time for the country to have stable energy and that it is guaranteed that the productive sectors can work without difficulty.”
Energy cuts have increased in the country in recent days, which has caused protests in sectors of the capital and the Santo Domingo province.
