The Rio Court revoked the Differentiated Disciplinary Regime (RDD) of the bookie Rogério Andrade. Thus, he will leave the maximum security penitentiary in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, where he has been held since November last year, and returns to prison in Rio de Janeiro.
The 8th Criminal Chamber of the Court of Justice understood that Rogério does not have the profile to continue in the federal penitentiary system. The case’s rapporteur, Judge Marcius da Costa Ferreira, who signed the decision, said that the RDD has a very exceptional nature and should only be applied when its effective indispensability is verified.
“The person in custody does not present a profile compatible with the criteria of the federal penitentiary system, evidencing the existence of illegal constraint, I order the transfer of the patient to the prison system of the state of Rio to comply with precautionary custody”, says the decision.
The preventive detention of Rogério de Andrade is duly justified. “The arrest decree does not distort the continuity of the investigations, making clear the existence of concrete risks to public order and criminal investigation”, he adds.

Rogério is the nephew of Castor de Andrade, one of the biggest bosses of the animal game in Rio and patron of Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel. Castor died in 1997, a victim of heart disease.
Castor’s death triggered a family dispute over the inheritance, involving Paulinho de Andrade, Castor’s son, murdered in Barra da Tijuca, in 1998, a crime attributed to Rogério, and Fernando Iggnácio, also murdered. He was married to Castor’s daughter.
Assassination of Iggnácio
Rogério Andrade was arrested in October 2024, identified as having ordered the death of Fernando Iggnácio, in 2020.
The murder occurred in the parking lot of a heliport in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, shortly after Iggnácio disembarked by helicopter, returning from his beach house in Angra dos Reis.
He was hit by three rifle shots, one of them in the head, and died instantly. The shooter was hiding in a vacant lot next to the heliport.
