A fourth man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the mysterious attack on soccer player Kheira Hamaraoui, which occurred last November. Several local media indicated, citing sources from the investigation, that the detainee is an 18-year-old from the town of Massy (Paris region) who is being interrogated at the Versailles Judicial Police offices.
Three other men were arrested yesterday for their alleged involvement in the case, and are still in police custody, which initially runs for 48 hours.
These are three young people in their twenties and with police records, who were also transferred to the Versalles police station, from where the investigation is being carried out.
The midfielder was attacked on the night of November 4 when she was in a car driven by her PSG teammate Aminata Diallo, who was immobilized by the assailants who pulled Hamraoui out of the vehicle and beat her with an iron bar on her legs.
Investigators were initially suspicious of Diallo, who was even held under arrest while being questioned, but was released without charge.
The hypothesis was then considered that it was revenge for the relationship that Hamraoui had with former Barcelona player Éric Abidal, with whom he met in Barcelona when both were at Barça.
In any case, Justice has not launched any proceedings against Abidal or his wife, who filed for divorce after the adultery was made public.
The investigators are trying to clarify what could have been the reason for the attack on Hamraoui, who after that episode has seen his football career totally disrupted.
The footballer is currently separated against her will from the discipline of PSG, although she has a valid contract for this season and the next.
For this reason, the player requested last week that a judicial official legally certify that the club does not allow her access to the Bougival training center (outside Paris) to exercise her profession and fulfill her contract.
