The ex-macrista adviser Fabian “Pepin” Rodriguez Simonthat is in Uruguay after declaring to be a victim of political persecution and with an extradition request from the Argentine Justice, indicated that it is up to him to request international aid. “I have the right, if I consider that this accusation is political, to request international protection,” Rodríguez Simón explained, according to Ambit.
“If Cristina did not ask for international protection, it is because she does not feel persecuted or because she thinks she has other protection”said on Radio Perfil 101.9, who was pointed out by the Argentine vice president, Cristina Fernández, as the “only fugitive Argentine political leader.”
Rodríguez Simón should face in Argentina the citation of Judge María Servini de Cubría, for allegedly being part of an illicit association that extorted to the shareholders of the Indalo Group, gaming operators in the city of Buenos Aires and owners of a media network, including C5N, Radio 10 and Ámbito Financiero.
Since December 2020, the former Macrista advisor has been in Montevideo waiting for the Uruguayan Justice to decide to extradite him or not.
In July of this year, the appeals court rejected his refugee claim. by two votes – those of Alberto Reyes Oehninger and Sergio Torres Collazo – against one – that of Graciela Gatti. The arguments for voting against the request were that Rodríguez Simón’s fears that his fundamental rights would be violated if he made himself available to the Argentine Justice, are not sufficiently founded.
Following the decision of the Uruguayan court, Interpol can arrest him, since there is an international arrest warrant.
