«There are those who think that we removed this Law suddenly; No. We had studied this Law, its reform, together with Maduro. “I feel excited to be able to tell you that we are complying and to the people of Venezuela,” said Delcy Rodríguez in a public event in reference to the approval of the reform of the Hydrocarbons Law, approved unanimously this Thursday, January 29.
The reform of the Hydrocarbons Law expands fiscal and parafiscal benefits, makes the economic conditions of the projects more flexible and reduces parliamentary control over the constitution of mixed companies, opening greater spaces for the participation of private operators.
The request to reform the Law was requested by Delcy Rodríguez to the National Assembly on the day of the presentation of the Report and Account, just 12 days after the capture of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, by the United States. He defended that it was “aimed at attracting investments and developing unexploited fields for the benefit of the Venezuelan people.”
“(The law) Reaffirms sovereignty over our energy resources,” insisted the in charge of the Executive from Miraflores, before signing the regulations.
Rodríguez thanked the different sectors of the opposition that voted for this Law and assured that it “symbolizes national cohesion.”
The president explained that with this, oil reserves can be converted into happiness for the people and asked: “What good are the largest oil reserves on the planet if we cannot convert them into salaries, into hospitals, into food, into education?”
He said that Venezuela is coming to the fore and is pursuing “best international practices to make our industry (Pdvsa) a great energy power, with full adherence and respect to the rights of Mother Nature.”
