Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez called for strengthening the physical and cyber security of the facilities. The national Executive described as “illicit” the seizure of an oil tanker with PDVSA crude oil
The Executive Vice President and Minister of Hydrocarbons, Delcy Rodríguez, urged workers in the oil sector this Saturday, December 13, to be extremely vigilant in the country’s facilities and to remain on alert for any attempt at “sabotage,” in a context marked by a US military deployment in the Caribbean that Washington justifies as an operation against drug trafficking and that Caracas considers a threat.
Through a published message on his Telegram channelRodríguez pointed out that attention must be focused on both the physical security of the facilities and the “cyber protection of operations.”
According to the official, the objective is to maintain “firmness and disposition in defense of peace, tranquility, territorial integrity and the energy resources of the country.” In that sense, he reiterated the call to be alert to any attempt at “sabotage or digital war”, as well as to protect the oil industry “in all its areas.”
Rodríguez also referred to the confiscation of an oil tanker by the United States in waters near Venezuela, an event that he described as an assault. In his opinion, this is an “illegal and violative” act of international conventions that can only, he maintained, “generate indignation and shame before the world.”

The national Executive on Wednesday described the seizure as a “blatant robbery,” while Nicolás Maduro denounced that the ship’s crew members are “disappeared.”
For its part, the White House indicated that the Skipper It is subject to “a confiscation process” and will be transferred to a US port to proceed with the seizure of its cargo.
