Rodrigo Ríos makes his resignation official as a candidate for National Prosecutor

Lawyer Rodrigo Ríos made official his decision to resign as a candidate for the next National Prosecutor to replace the questioned Jorge Abbott. This, after the incorporation of him in the quina prepared by the Supreme Court, he informed that he would decline for personal reasons.

According to the slogan La Tercera, various sources of the Judiciary confirmed that Ríos went in person to the Supreme Court to notify his decision. In this way, the remaining names according to the original quina are Marta Herrera, Ángel Valencia and Carlos Palma.

This, after the Senate rejected the nomination of José Morales for National Prosecutor, who had been the candidate proposed by President Gabriel Boric. In this way, it was the first time in history that a proposal for the position was rejected.

It should be remembered that a few weeks ago the professional stated that “I have decided, for personal reasons, to withdraw my candidacy to lead the Public Ministry.”

Now, the highest court must choose two new applicants to integrate the group from which the President must choose a new name to propose it -again- to the Senate.
