The Engineer Rodolfo Hernandez He took office as the new senator of the Republic after having obtained second place in the last presidential elections.
In his first statement as a congressman, Hernández attacked President Iván Duque for his last speech before Congress and criticized the disorder that was presented in the Senate at the installation event.

The engineer questioned the figures given by Duque during his speech and recalled that there are millions of people in the country who have no way to eat.
“I do not know if President Duque in his speech describes Switzerland or Denmark, because in Colombia, there are 22 million poor people dying of hunger”he indicated.
Additionally, Hernández harshly questioned the disorder that arose in the Senate of the Republic during the process of electing the boards, in which Roy Barreras was appointed as the new president.
“A corraleja has more order than the opening session of the Senate, poor country,” he said.
After arriving at the Congress of the Republic, Rodolfo Hernández confirmed to the National Electoral Council (CNE) that he is willing to oppose the Government of Gustavo Petro.
Marelen Castillo, who was his vice-presidential formula, assured that from the Senate and the House of Representatives they will make a “reflexive opposition”because its sole intention is to work for the well-being of all Colombians.

“We are going to work for the well-being of Colombians, for our proposal, which is to close social gaps, as long as the projects are in favor of development, we will be there, otherwise we will argue why we would not be supporting, with clear and substantiated arguments”, he indicated at the time.
On the other hand, Rodolfo Hernández has already submitted a formal request to the National Electoral Council to be granted the legal status to his political movement League of Governors Anticorruption.
